SERVICES
Regular servicing is the best way to keep your car fault-free and work how it should. There are many different maintenance items that can be changed such as; oil filters, air filters, cabin filters, fuel filters, Spark plugs, Wiper blades, Transmission oil, Brake fluid and many more. We can complete servicing on different makes and models of cars in a garage near you.
Brakes are essential to the your safety whilst driving so you are able to stop at a safe distance when needed. It is vital to ensure that brake pads aren't wearing thin or this can increase stopping distance. The ABS system should also be kept fault free to keep the braking system safe. Keeping the braking system well maintained makes sure that the brakes wear evenly.
Tyres are the only point of contact between the road and the car. To keep you safe on the road we recommend replacing your tyres when they get below 3mm of tread as your stopping distance is increased the lower the tread gets. Making sure that your tyres are inflated correctly is also important to keep them from wearing quicker than they should.
Wheel alignment is very important for keeping the handling correct and it will also massively reduce tyre wear overall. If alignment is incorrect by a lot then this can increase tyre wear by up to 25% in extreme cases causing you to go to a garage and have the tyres replaced sooner than typically needed. If your steering wheel is not straight then this is a sign that the wheel alignment is out.
We can replace batteries on every vehicle, including cars that are fitted with start/stop systems. Modern cars rely heavily on the electrical system as most sensors rely on the battery and charging system working correctly as it should. Most typical breakdowns nowadays are caused by the battery or charging system not working correctly.
The cambelt works by keeping the valves and pistons moving in sync. Getting your cambelt changed at regular intervals is important to reduce the chance of the cambelt failing. The cambelt will need replacing at different intervals depending on the make of your car, but typically it will need replacing every 5-10 years. As it is a big job having it carried out by a qualified garage is important.
Getting your car checked out when you have an engine management light or an ABS light on. The longer an electrical issue on a vehicle is left this can lead to bigger problems. Something as simple as a sensor failure or a wiring issue between a component could lead to a blocked DPF if left for long enough as there is something not operating correctly.
The clutch for your manual transmission is important for taking off smoothly and stopping along with changing gears efficiently. If your clutch isnt working properly then you can experience clutch slip, making it difficult to take off without revving the engine a lot and it may also make it difficult to change gear. Having your clutch replaced by a qualified garage is important.
Having your air conditioning system working properly during those hot summer months is essential to staying cool. AC can also be useful in the winter in order to demist the vehicle quicker and get you away on your journey. How often should I service my car at a garage and is it a legal requirement?
Typically most manufacturers recommend that your vehicle be serviced by a garage every 12000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first. Although not a legal requirement it is important to service your vehicle so it keeps your car running as efficiently as possible. However, if your car is covered by a warranty by the manufacturer then it is required to have it serviced at the correct interval with genuine parts to maintain that warranty.
